  • Texas Concrete Scanning
Scan before you cut to locate hidden obstructions in concrete! Concrete scanning - also known as GPR scanning - provides a real-time internal view of concrete slabs, walls and structures. The process is safe (no radiation), accurate and considerably more time efficient than x-ray.

Concrete Demolition

Concrete Building Demolition

From an outside perspective, the concrete demolition process may seem like a simple job. After all, you’re simply looking to destroy an existing structure rather than maintain it. However, there are a number of reasons why you want to have professionals with experience complete the job.

  • Safety – even if you’re not trying to maintain the structural integrity of the building, it is essential to understand it prior to concrete demolition. This allows for predictions regarding how the building will collapse so that safety hazards can be avoided.
  • Efficiency – a wide variety of equipment types are often required for one concrete demolition job, starting with the initial demo itself, right up until all of the materials are cleared away from the site. Our team can identify the best way to complete each task so that the whole project is completed as efficiently as possible.
  • Conserving the area – whether only part of a building requires concrete demolition, or the entire structure is simply located close to others that are being maintained, conserving their structural integrity is crucial.

Texas Cutting and Coring employ a variety of different techniques for concrete demolition, including the use of various heavy machines, chemicals, and other strategies where appropriate.

Concrete Demolition Techniques and Methods

The right approach for your concrete demolition project depends on a variety of factors, as each structure is unique. We may use any of the following techniques (or a combination of them) in order to complete your demolition job anywhere in the United States.

  • Pressure bursting – this strategy involves drilling holes into the concrete and then applying lateral force. This can be accomplished mechanically or chemically. Both options split the concrete so that it can be removed in smaller sections. This is a controlled demo technique that will allow for the conservation of other structures nearby.
  • Pneumatic and Hydraulic breakers – this method involves applying direct force to the concrete using a hammer tool. For larger scale jobs, the hammer is mounted to heavy machinery that can be controlled remotely in many instances.
  • Dismantling – this technique for concrete demolition involves cutting out sections of the concrete so that it is manageable in size for removal. Concrete sawing is one method that can be used to dismantle a structure for demolition.
  • Ball and crane – while this is what people most often assume is used for demolition work, it is only suitable for certain projects where masonry needs to be dismantled. An experienced crane operator can complete the demolition this way, however, other techniques are often required at some point during the project.
  • Explosives – used in instances where large volumes of concrete must be removed, and the structure requiring demolition is not close enough for the blast to damage any other nearby buildings.
